Degree Requirements
Admission Requirements    |   Degree Requirements   |   Courses   |   How To Apply

A minimum grade of "C" is required for each ARC prefix course. If a grade below a "C" (such as "C-") is earned in an ARC prefix course, the course will not count toward any portion of the 159 credit-hour program. If a grade below "C" (such as "C-") is earned in an architecture core course, the course must be retaken.

Students must petition the faculty of the School of Architecture in writing for any deviation from the established policies. The decision on such cases will be made on an individual basis.

* Based upon quality of previous studios and academic results, students of other year levels can take the Community Studio course in lieu of other design studios (7-9), but only once in the entire academic design sequence. Students who transfer into the Thesis Phase must take the Design 9 studio course, but may take Community Studio as an elective.

** Professional Practice 1 and 2 are not necessarily elective courses for students. The student may be exempted from a Professional Practice course at the discretion of the faculty. The student is required to take elective credits in lieu of the exempted Professional Practice course(s).

*** Electives taken at FAU to fulfill the 99 credit-hour requirement must be upper-division 3000, 4000, or 5000 level courses.

Courses will be offered in the Summer as resources permit.

Educational Opportunities & Expenditures

The School of Architecture regularly arranges field trips to give students an opportunity to expand their educational experience through study of planning and design projects of exceptional interest. Students may combine such studies with attendance at regional or national professional meetings or events. Students are encouraged to participate in these opportunities; however, additional fees may be required.
