Dr. Rosalyn Carter

Rosalyn Carter is a Professor of Public Administration and Dean of CAUPA.  Dr. Carter's primary responsibility as the Dean is the development of programs in the College and University.  She has been the Dean since 1993, and her accomplishments include the creation of new programs, accreditation of new and old programs, modification of College procedures, and the development of research centers.

Dr. Floydette Cory-Scruggs currently serves as Associate Dean of the College while continuing to serve as a faculty member in the School of Public Administration, teaching in both graduate and undergraduate programs. Her research interests include organization development, leadership, and health policy. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee - Knoxville.
Dr. Kalinich

Dr. Dave Kalinich joined the FAU community in January of 2002 as Chair of the School of Criminology & Criminal Justice. He has published a number of books and articles in the field and has an extensive background in planning and providing training programs to criminal justice professionals. He also worked as an adult parole officer for a ten-year period for the State of Ohio prior to his academic career.

Assistant Dean

Jerry Clinton is Assistant Dean in the College of Architecture, Urban and Public Affairs. Since 1991, Mr. Clinton has been responsible for the administrative functions of the college including college budgeting, accounting, non-faculty personnel, grant and contract administration, and auxiliary enterprises.  Mr. Clinton earned his Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, and his MBA from FAU.
Dr. Bazemore

Dr. Gordon Bazemore

Chair, School of Criminology & Criminal Justice

Gordon Bazemore is currently Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice and Director of the Community Justice Institute at Florida Atlantic University. His primary research interests include community and restorative justice, juvenile justice, youth policy, victimology, corrections, and community policing. He is the author of over 45 journal articles and numerous book chapters and monographs on these topics. Dr. Bazemore's recent publications appear in Justice Quarterly, Crime and Delinquency, The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Sciences, The Justice System Journal, and the International Journal of Victimology. He has completed two books, Restorative Juvenile Justice: Repairing the Harm of Youth Crime (co-edited with Lode Walgrave) (Criminal Justice Press) and Restorative and Community Justice: Cultivating Common Ground for Victims, Communities and Offenders (co-edited with Mara Schiff) (Anderson Publishing). Dr. Bazemore has directed several recent evaluations of juvenile justice, corrections, and policing initiatives funded by the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and various bureaus of the U.S. Department of Justice including the Office for Victims of Crime and the Bureau of Justice Assistance. He is currently Principal Investigator of a national study of restorative justice conferencing funded by the National Institute of Justice and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a statewide evaluation of juvenile justice programs in Vermont, and a national action research project funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention to pilot restorative justice reform in several juvenile court jurisdictions.

Professor Hugh Miller's office is located at Florida Atlantic University's new downtown campus building, 111 East Las Olas Boulevard. He earned his Ph.D. from American University in 1984. Dr. Miller's scholarly work has appeared in various policy and administration journals. In the academy he is known for bringing postmodern thought into the fields of public policy and public administration. His most recent book is Pragmatic Public Policy in a Postmodern World (Westport, CT: Praeger, 2001). An earlier book Postmodern Public Administration: Toward Discourse (Thousand Oaks, California: Sage, 1995) was co-authored with Charles J. Fox, with whom he co-edited Postmodernism, Reality, and Public Administration: A Discourse (Burke, Virginia: Chatelaine Press, 1997). He also co-edited, with Mohamad Alkadry, These Things Happen: Stories from the Public Sector (Burke, Virginia: Chatelaine Press, 1998).

Michele Hawkins earned her MSW from the University of Missouri and her Ph.D in Public Health Education from Southern Illinois University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers, the Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors, National Association Social Work and Council on Social Work Education. She has published articles in the areas of mental health and social policy. Her current research interests include social work education, child welfare and health and social policy.
Aron Temkin

Aron Temkin came to FAU in 1999 from Carnegie Mellon University where he was a Visiting Assistant Professor. In practice since 1992, Prof. Temkin worked for several award winning design firms - studio d'ARC, Urban Design Associates, and Perfido Weiskopf Associates - before pursuing independent practice. His professional work includes graphic design, master planning, and architecture with an emphasis on sustainable place making. Through his built work he aspires to reconnect people to the variable conditions of their surroundings. His research explores digital modeling as a device for design refinement and animation as a device for temporal analysis of space. He is also interested in the pedagogue of design foundation, developing coursework and research in support of beginning students.
Dr. Vos

Dr. Jaap Vos

Director, School of Urban and Regional Planning

Dr. Jaap Vos, Associate Professor and Director of the School of Urban & Regional Planning, joined the FAU Faculty in 1995. He holds a Ph.D. in Regional Planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master’s degree in Environmental Science from Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Dr. Vos’ main interests include environmental planning, environmental justice, and sustainable development. He has published articles about community participation, environmental justice and equity in planning. Currently, he is focusing his research on the relationship between Everglades restoration and urban development in southeast Florida.
