Before you start your internship, you must go through the application process, which requires a resume and an interview at the least. You can begin working on this now so that when you find the right internship you are ready to apply.

Come to the Career Center for virtual drop-In career coaching! Career Coaching allows you to meet with a career coach and are designed for document reviews (i.e., resumes, cover letters, personal statements), practice interview questions, job/internship search questions, LinkedIn and Handshake profile reviews, and quick career planning questions. They are typically 15-20 minutes long, and no appointment is needed.

Think about factors that may influence where you see yourself working and use those important things to narrow down your search.

• Are you interested in finding a remote, virtual or micro-internship?
• What career skills are you hoping to develop through completion of an internship experience?
• What industry would you prefer to learn more about, as a result of an internship?
• Would you like to intern with a large company or a small company?
• Would you like to find an internship locally or go away during a break?
• Are you open to an unpaid opportunity that will provide you with valuable experience?
• Have you considered an on-campus internship?

The Career Center strongly encourages students to begin their search for internships early. We are here and happy to assist you with your internship search and other components of the application process, such as resume critiques and developing strong interview skills. While all students can meet with a Liaison, we especially encourage juniors and seniors to meet with your Career Center College Liaison to discuss your journey to career readiness as you approach graduation. Liaisons are a great resource for you to learn about internship and job opportunities for your major and how to best prepare for them.
