Outdoor Challenge Course

Florida Atlantic University is home to the most comprehensive Challenge Course in South Florida. With over 30 low and high elements and numerous portables, we will customize an experiential based program for your organization and focus on your specific needs.

While each group has different goals, common program benefits include teamwork, communication, leadership, decision making and personal growth. Many times we have groups come to the course without a clear set of goals. This is not a problem. Other times we have groups that come to the course with a set of goals, but a different set of expectations for how the day will look. In conjunction with the goals expressed by your group contact, our facilitators create your day. Please note that requests for specific agendas or initiatives should be communicated well in advance.

With all the mud runs, obstacle courses, television shows like American Ninja, we also want to make clear that the mission of our course is personal and group development through the use of experiential learning theory.

FAU's Challenge Course is not a playground, or open climb facility. If you are interested in an event that is geared towards recreation, we suggest you look at booking our Climbing Center. More information can be found on the Climbing Center page.

For more information email outdoor@fau.edu or call 561-297-6110.

Each program is custom designed for your group. Participants must be at least 10 years of age. We can accommodate groups up to 150 people at a time. Most activities on the challenge course, including high-elements, can be modified to accommodate physical limitations. Group goals will dictate the activity section and level of challenge for the program. Rates may be adjusted based on group size. Please contact Outdoor Adventure staff at outdoor@fau.edu for more information on pricing. This is a sample of our most popular programs:

FAU Portable Programs
These programs are designed to bring a program to your location on campus. Utilizing portable elements and initiatives, our facilitators are able to help your group work on the same outcomes as a program at the challenge course (i.e. communication, problem-solving, and group development). This is a great way to introduce your group to the benefits of having a program at the challenge course. Administrative offices may find this a better way to schedule a program into the work week.

FAU Student Organization Program

    • Free to Student Organizations. Credit card required for reservation deposit.
    • No charges will be made if minimum participation is met.
    • Some charges may be applied for large groups.

  • Where are you located?
    • The FAU Challenge Course is located on the Boca Campus next to the Softball Complex. Check out our Contact Us page for directions.
  • Are there overnight accommodations at FAU?
    • There are no overnight facilities at the FAU Challenge Course. If your group needs overnight accommodations, there are several hotels within a 5-10 minute drive of campus.
  • Is there an age limit for activities?
    • Although there is no set minimum age limit for activities, we recommend no one under the age of 10 years. The biggest factor is fitting our harnesses and helmets for the high elements.
  • What should we know about parking?
    • Parking is available in LOT 12 by the softball field. Day passes are available for purchase at the Glades Road entrance for $2. We offer a limited number of complimentary day passes that you may obtain from the lead facilitator. Please encourage your group to carpool.
  • How many people can we bring?
    • While our course can handle up to 120 participants at a time, we cannot guarantee staffing for that many.  Groups over 40 participants will need to wait till we can secure staffing before their program will be confirmed.  We suggest you schedule larger programs at least a month in advance.
  • How early should we schedule?
    • We suggest all groups schedule with plenty of time to complete all the paperwork and insure proper staffing for your group.  Please allow at least two weeks from your program date to have it confirmed and staffed correctly.
