Joe has been with the Department of Campus Recreation in a number of roles, starting out as a Graduate Assistant and then transitioning in as the Fitness Coordinator, and is currently serving as the Interim Assistant Director of Fitness Programs. Joe holds his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Business from Truman State University and his M.S. in Exercise Physiology from FAU.
He has been working in fitness and Personal Training since 2006 and holds certifications as an ACE Personal Trainer, ACSM Health and Fitness Specialist, as well as other specialty certifications like USAW. Joe has experience with a variety of populations in both personal training and group fitness and leads the Department’s bi-annual Strong Owl Competition and practices.
Growing up on a farm in the Midwest, Joe loves to be outside and as the Advisor for both the Climbing Club and Crossfit Clubs on campus is extremely active in the South Florida fitness community.
