About the OWL CARD
The OWL Card is the official picture identification and debit card for the Florida Atlantic University community. It is required of all students and is available to all faculty and staff.
STUDENTS
INTRODUCTION (Purpose and intent)
This policy concerns the issuance of official FAU identification cards (OWL CARD) to all University students and establishes the fee, in accordance with the Board of Governors and FAU Regulations, for issuance and replacement of the OWL CARD.
STATEMENT OF POLICY
It is the policy of Florida Atlantic University that all students must obtain and carry the OWL CARD while on campus.
PURPOSE OF THE OWL CARD
The OWL CARD is primarily used for identification, for verification of FAU status and for using University services such as the Library (OWL CARD must be presented in order to check out books), Dining Services (with purchase of a meal plan or OWL Bucks), obtaining passes for University sporting and theatrical events, for use with the OWL CARD debit program, BankAtlantic ATM, participating University shops and other related services.
TYPES OF PHOTO OWL CARD
Only one type of student OWL CARD is available.
Visitor cards are available in card dispensers located on the Boca Raton, Davie, Downtown Ft Lauderdale, HBOI and John D. MacArthur Campuses.
PROCEDURES FOR OBTAINING AN OWL CARD
OWL CARDS may be obtained at the OWL CARD Services Office located at the Boca Raton campus.
OWL CARDS may be obtained at Davie, Downtown Ft Lauderdale, HBOI in Port St Lucie and the John D. MacArthur Campus at Jupiter during published dates and times.
Legal identification (passport, drivers' license, military, or State/Government Photo identification card) must be presented to obtain an OWL CARD.
You must know your assigned Z number. If you are not sure, you can find it by logging into your student account through My FAU.
CARDHOLDER RESPONSIBILITIES
Use of the OWL CARD by anyone other than the person to whom it was issued is strictly prohibited.
The cardholder is subject to disciplinary action or other penalties for improper use of the card or attempting to obtain a card with false information.
The cardholder is responsible for any losses associated with their card.
FEES AND OPTIONS
Fees for issuance of first and replacement cards are in accordance with the Board of Governors and FAU Regulations.
Initial card fee: $10.00 (included in tuition)
Replacement card fee: $15.00.
New card fees will also apply for students who have not been enrolled with the University for two (2) consecutive semesters or for students who have graduated and are returning for additional course work.
DISCLOSURE STATEMENT
All OWL CARDS are property of Florida Atlantic University and must be returned upon request. The OWL CARD debit limit is $ 100.00 dollars. The Debit program is an off line system. If cards are lost or stolen, Florida Atlantic University assumes no responsibility for balances remaining on the debit portion of your OWL CARD. Since the debit program is an off line application of the OWL CARD, transactions can not be monitored nor balances verified.
FACULTY & STAFF

STATEMENT OF POLICY
It is the policy of Florida Atlantic University that all Faculty, AMP, and SP personnel obtain and carry the FAU OWL CARD while on campus.
PURPOSE OF THE OWL CARD
The OWL CARD is primarily used for identification, for verification of FAU status, and for using University services, such as the Library, obtaining passes for University sporting and theatrical events, OWL CARD debit program, Dining Services, BankAtlantic ATM, and other related services.
TYPES OF FAU CARDS
Two types of identification cards are available:
Faculty
- Faculty and Visiting Scholars (there is no charge for initial card)
- Adjunct Faculty ($10.00 fee applies)
Staff cards are available for:
- SP employees (there is no charge for initial card)
- AMP employees (there is no charge for initial card)
- Temporary employees ($10.00 fee applies)
- Sub-contracted employees ($10.00 fee applies)
PROCEDURES FOR OBTAINING AN FAU OWL CARD
OWL CARDS may be obtained at the OWL Card Services Office on the Boca Campus.
OWL CARDS are available at the Boca, Davie, Downtown Ft Lauderdale, HBOI and the John D. MacArthur Campuses during published dates and times.
Legal identification (passport, drivers' license, or State / Government Photo Identification card) must be presented to obtain an OWL CARD.
Proof of employment status - copy of employment contract or pay stub.

The cardholder is responsible for any and all losses associated with his / her card.
FEES AND OPTIONS
There is no fee for Faculty or Staff cards (first issue only). This excludes Temporary employees, who are charged a $10.00 fee.
Replacement ID's for everyone is 15.00
Financial services and other features are options available at the user's discretion.
Pursuant to FAU Rule 6C-5.006, Faculty, Staff and State Employees utilizing either the Employee Educational Scholarship Program or the Tuition Waiver will be required to pay the $10.00 charge for a student OWL CARD.
FAU CARD FILE ACCESS
Departmental users must coordinate with the OWL CARD Services Office before implementing card applications.
Departmental users must file procedures with the OWL CARD Services Office.
