Financial Aid on the OWL CARD

All eligible financial aid recipients and/or approved Short Term Loan applicants (Delayed Delivery / Emergency) with a BankAtlantic account will be able to have their funds directly deposited into their BankAtlantic account. Students utilizing direct deposit will be able to receive their funds via their ATM/OWL CARD account.

To qualify for direct deposit, you will need to:

  • Open an account with BankAtlantic. This account may be opened at any BankAtlantic branch, including the BankAtlantic located on the Boca campus in the Student Services West Building across from the Breezeway Food Court. However if you open it at a branch other than the one on campus, you must identify yourself as an FAU student to utilize this service.
  • You must complete the direct deposit authorization form and return it to the Controller's Office in the Administration Building. Once the account is established, any funds to be disbursed (financial aid and/or short term loan funds) will be deposited directly into the BankAtlantic account.

Most financial aid disbursements are made beginning the third week of classes; delayed delivery loans beginning the first week of classes; and emergency loans the second week of classes. If a student selects direct deposit but does not have an active BankAtlantic account at the time funds are disbursed, a check will be printed and mailed to the student's local address on file with the Registrar's Office. However, students who do not have an active BankAtliantic account will be ineligible to receive a Short Term Loan (Delayed Delivery / Emergency). The student will be responsible for any BankAtlantic service charges resulting from attempts to disburse funds to a closed / inactive account.
