Accepted Students

Acceptance Letter
Please check the information in your acceptance letter for accuracy and contact us immediately if changes are necessary. Acceptance is only for term specified. If your plans change, or if you wish to be reconsidered for another term, send us written notification. Pay particular attention to your name, address, term of entrance, and residency status.

Admission
Your tentative acceptance to FAU is based on your academic information at the time your file is reviewed by the Office of Admissions. It is in your best interest to submit final transcripts to the Office of Admissions before you register for classes at FAU in order to avoid any registration holds on your record. Applicants are expected to maintain the academic quality which granted them admission to FAU, as these completed transcripts will be a part of the final admission decision.

Your admission to FAU is specified for a certain semester and you must enroll during that term. If you wish to change your entry term, simply email your request to Undergraduate Admissions or use our on-line form . Your application and fee are good for one year from your initial term of application.

Residency
In the bottom left hand corner of your acceptance letter it states your classification as a Florida or a non-Florida resident. If you would like to have your status reconsidered, you will need to complete the “Residency re-classification” sheet located at http://www.fau.edu/academic/admissions/Res-Classif.pdf. This sheet, along with full documentation, must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the start of classes.

My FAU
MyFAU is a web based communication tool that provides FAU students with centralized access to world-class Intranet services though a secure site. A single user name enables you to obtain access to a gateway of online services such as e-mail, e-calendars, and helpful classroom resources. This invaluable resource also allows you to register for courses, search the course catalog, and view your grades. Best of all, MyFAU pages are customizable to suit your personal needs!

To find your login ID and password/PIN, log onto MyFAU (http://myfau.fau.edu). Then click on “look up username”. You will need to enter your social security number and your PIN (“00” followed by the two digit date and two digit year of your birth). For example, if you were born on January 1, 1978, your PIN would be 000178.

New Student Orientation
The orientation program is designed to make your transition into FAU as smooth as possible. At orientation you will have the opportunity to meet with other students, faculty and staff. You will tour the campus, learn more about academic policies and discover the numerous programs and organizations available at FAU. Attending orientation is mandatory for all incoming students prior to registering for classes, with the exception of those seeking a second bachelors’ degree. In addition to orientation, students are encouraged to attend “Weeks of Welcome”. These programs in the beginning of the fall semester are designed to acquaint you with the unique opportunities available on our campus.

Transfer Orientation (for students with 60+ credit hours)
Information on the dates, times and locations for transfer orientation will be mailed to you prior to your term of entry. You must attend an orientation session on the campus in which you intend to take the majority of your coursework. Transfer students may opt to participate in the virtual orientation in lieu of attending the on-campus program. This is an excellent option for those students who want to register early. For more information about FAU’s New Student Orientation programs, please call 954-236-1158.

Transfer Student Academic Advising (students with 60+ credit hours)
Group advisement sessions are offered for transfer students during the orientation program. Transfer students should contact their specific college office directly for individual appointments. The office numbers are listed below:

Scholarship Applications
Students must complete the scholarship application to be considered for scholarships from FAU. The Presidential Scholarship is the only award for which students are automatically considered upon review of their admissions application. A list of university scholarships is available in the financial aid section of the undergraduate catalog. A list of other scholarships and search engines can be found on the financial aid website at http://www.fau.edu/finaid.

Applying for Financial Aid
The process of applying for financial aid normally takes six to eight weeks. Students who apply for aid by March 1 have the greatest chance of receiving aid from all available resources. An application for federal aid may be found at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. Additional information regarding financial aid programs, scholarships and related links may be found at http://www.fau.edu/finaid/.
