Nearly 5,500 students take classes at FAU's second-largest campus after the Boca Raton campus. Conveniently co-located with Broward College (BC) as part of the South Florida Education Center, it covers 38 acres in the western part of Broward County. FAU Davie offers coursework in 30 degree programs through the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, the College of Business, College for Design and Social Inquiry, College of Education, the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, and the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science.
FAU Davie Campus has served FAU students since 1990 with 2+2 programs working in close partnership with Broward College and other educational institutions. The FAU Davie Campus creates a supportive learning environment with particular sensitivity to students of nontraditional ages and culturally diverse backgrounds. A high priority is placed on offering the complete upper-division portion of high-demand undergraduate degree programs. Graduate programs in education, public administration, and business, are available on the Davie campus as well. It also hosts the base of operations for FAU's Everglades research and restoration efforts.
The campus is located on Broward College's Central Campus. Students may enter Broward College as freshmen and graduate from FAU with undergraduate degrees in over 30 disciplines. More than 315,000 square feet of carefully designed classrooms, laboratories and faculty, staff and student offices are located on this campus along with a shared-use, 112,000 square-foot FAU/BC library designed for the 21st century.
Other support facilities include a student Campus Recreation and a multi-service Student Union. The campus also offers a rich and varied program of student activities provided by the Division of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management. Students have all of the services they require for career counseling, wellness, testing and evaluation, tutoring, health services, student government and financial aid, among others. Like a small college within a large university, the Davie Campus is seen as a "model" branch campus for the state of Florida and the nation.
The Teaching and Leadership Center is a joint collaborative initiative of FAU, Broward College and the School Board of Broward County in an effort to meet the challenges of attracting, developing and retaining qualified educators for the schools within these communities. The center’s goals include expanding the pool of mid-career professionals and recent college graduates to teach in Broward County's schools. This particular project streamlines the district's hiring, placement and new staff support systems for alternative certification candidates by creating a one stop center for all candidates seeking information, training and support.
The Center for Environmental Studies (CES) was established in 1994 as a research center to facilitate and coordinate environmental research and education in the water dominated ecosystems of Florida. The CES moved to the Davie Campus in the fall of 2014.
