Sherry Plymale, of Palm City, is the immediate past chair of the State Board of Community Colleges. A former Chief of Staff of the Department of Education, a former vice chair of the Florida Republican Party, she has also served on the board of directors of the Healthy Kids Corporation. She currently serves on the board of the YMCA of the Treaure Coast, the National Assembly of the YMCA of the USA, the Board of Trustees of St. Leo University, a member of Leadership Florida and as a member of the Martin County School Readiness Coalition . She has a bachelor’s degree from St. Leo College. 30 year residents of Martin County, Florida both Sherry and her husband, Dr. Tom Plymale, are members of the FAU National Alumni Association.
