Ron T. Bulger is Florida Atlantic University President Mary Jane Saunders’ Executive Administrator and Liaison with the Board of Trustees. In these capacities, he coordinates the President’s interactions with the University and greater communities and maintains two-way communication with the Board of Trustees on a wide variety of issues. He is a key member of the President’s executive staff, overseeing daily operations in the President’s Office.

Mr. Bulger came to FAU in 2003 as Deputy Chief Aide to Frank T. Brogan, who was then serving as University President. Previously, he was Travel Aide and Personal Assistant when Mr. Brogan was Florida’s Lieutenant Governor, and he managed the Cabinet Affairs division of the Office of the Governor. As Travel Aide, he accompanied the Lieutenant Governor on trips around Florida, to Washington, D.C., to Central America and to South Africa.

From 2005 to 2010, Mr. Bulger was Assistant Director of FAU’s Office of Governmental Relations, handling responsibilities that included acting as liaison with elected and appointed officials, scheduling meetings with officials and arranging campus tours for them, making presentations to promote business ties with the University, and developing and coordinating the Hometown Tours initiative, which placed FAU speakers before city and county commissions throughout the University’s large service area.

Before being named President Saunders’ Executive Administrator in 2011, he was a Development Officer with responsibilities that included engaging alumni through outreach activities and coordinating “Conversations with the President,” an ongoing program that enables faculty, staff and students to meet with President Saunders.

Born and raised in Bainbridge, Georgia, Mr. Bulger joined the U.S. Army after graduating from high school in 1986. He served in Germany until the outbreak of the first Gulf War in 1991, when he carried out a tour of duty in Desert Storm. During his eight years in the Army, he took courses that carried college credits, later completing his studies at Florida Atlantic University. In 2006, he received a bachelor’s degree in political science from FAU. He is a member of the FAU National Alumni Association.
