The Compliance Office
Ed Hayward
Ed Hayward came to FAU in March of 1996 with the daunting task of establishing a strong compliance office while preparing and guiding the University through the NCAA Self-Study.
He accomplished task one and has proved invaluable as both a certification officer and as an ear for coaches, players and administrators especially in problem resolution.
Hayward was rewarded in the winter of 1999 with a promotion to Associate AD at which time he assumed the responsibility of overseeing several sports. He has been a constant through the administrative changes.
Hayward came to FAU after serving as Florida International University's Compliance Retention and Academic Support Athletic Coordinator from January 1992 to February 1996.
While at FIU, Ed was directly responsible for the academic support of 240 student-athletes, evaluation of incoming transcripts, intervention and retention group for at-risk students, the academic study hall program as well as interpretation of NCAA bylaws and rules.
Hayward, who received his masters of science in sports administration in December of 1991 from St. Thomas University, came to Florida from Tennessee Technological University where he served as Admissions Counselor from the University's Office of Admissions from 1988 to 1990.
While at Tennessee Tech, he was responsible for gathering academic profiles of recently admitted students, the presentations to prospective students and their parents, community college and high school visits, and evaluation of transcripts.
Hayward, who received his B.A. with an emphasis in journalism in 1988 from Tennessee Technological University, became involved with the support and advisement of Foot Fraternity Inc (football) while working at Tech and continued his community support upon becoming a resident of Miami. He was a four-year letterman for the Golden eagles ('83-'85, '87) and in he program's extended history Hayward is one of seven to rush for 1,000 yards (1,021 '85).
He has been a road race coordinator for the Miami Runners Club and has served on the board of directors. Hayward also volunteers for Boys Town of Florida, Miami division, and was a football coach for the North Miami Parks' Recreation Department.
Hayward resides in Miami with his wife, Lisa, and three children Christian and Myles and daughter Virginia.

Megan Coyne
Megan Coyne, a Florida Atlantic University graduate, returned to her alma mater in the Fall of 2009, when she began working as the Director of Compliance.
Coyne first came to FAU as goalkeeper for the women's soccer team. Her four-year career included an Atlantic Sun Championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. Coyne ended her career fourth all-time in NCAA goals against average (0.44). She was a winner of multiple conference all-academic awards, was named to the CoSIDA District III All-Academic First Team and was named to the President's List (4.0 GPA) several times during her collegiate career. Coyne also served as the president of the FAU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and served a two-year term as the Sun Belt Conference representative for the NCAA Division I National SAAC.
After exhausting her eligibility, Coyne assisted in the athletic department's Compliance Office while completing her degree. She graduated summa cum laude in December of 2007 with a triple major in Communications, Sociology and Social Sciences, with multiple certificates. Coyne returned to her home state, where she served as the Assistant Compliance Officer at Seattle University. In 2008, she moved on to the NCAA national office in Indianapolis, IN where she worked as a governance intern, helping to organize and coordinate numerous events and conferences, while also assisting in event management and Website design.
Coyne is a volunteer with the Tri-County Humane Society and the Florida Blood Center. Originally from Marysville, WA, Coyne currently resides in Deerfield Beach
