Update: 4/6/2012

New Compliance Video: Please take a few minutes to view the latest Compliance Office Educational Video. This month we discuss gambling and the adverse effects it has on a student-athlete's eligibility. While educational, it is also entertaining to see the a few athletics administrators "attempt" to "act". Please view and feedback is always appreciated. You may find this and previous videos under 'Miscellaneous' and 'Newsletters'.

Unofficial Visit Documentation: Please remember to submit your "Unofficial Visit" paperwork to the Compliance Office whenever you have a prospect visit. It is important that we keep these visits on file for auditing purposes and to ensure the integrity of our athletics department. The Unofficial Visit form may be found under the 'Recruiting' tab on the left. This must be submitted for every prospect and for every visit. If you have any additional questions about this process, please contact Megan Coyne.

Requesting Complimentary Tickets: When requesting complimentary tickets for recruits, please be sure to submit your paperwork to the Ticketing Office and the Compliance Office. For those who are on an official visit, the Official Visit documentation will be required and those recruits who are on an unofficial visit, the Unofficial Visit documentation will be required. These documents may be located under the 'Recruiting' tab on the left hand side. If a large team or high school squad will be utilizing complimentary tickets, a roster of the squad may be utilized instead of completing one form per prospect. Any questions about this process should be directed to Megan Coyne.

Newletter Update: Happy New Year and welcome back to another exciting semester! Please note, the Sun Belt Conference will now publish a compliance newsletter. It is a short, 2-page document that provides a recruiting calendar for all Sun Belt sponsored sports and a few quick tips to continue to be compliant with the NCAA and Sun Belt regulations. Please review them and provide any feedback to either Ed Hayward or Megan Coyne. The newsletter is located under 'Newsletters' on the left hand side.

Update: 10/7/2011

Transfer Policy Change: An email was distributed on October 6, 2011 from the Compliance Office notifying administrators, coaches and student-athletes of a recent transfer policy change. Due to current concerns with how transfers have affected the institution's APR scores, the following change will be implemented. We as an institution will not  release a student-athlete to discuss transferring to another institution, unless the student-athlete has a 2.6 GPA or higher. This will be open to discussion based on mitigating circumstances and each student-athlete will have an opportunity to appeal if requested. This policy change will be noted in the Student-Athlete Handbook, located on the FAU Athletics homepage. It will also be updated in the Compliance Policy & Procedure Manual and will be noted in the two compliance newsletters distributed monthly. Should any questions arise from the recent change, please contact Ed Hayward for greater information. We thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding.

Update: 9/20/2011

Newsletter Update: There have been two additional newsletters that have been  distributed within the last month. Beside the student-athlete specific newsletter ("Owl Eyes"), the Compliance Office has created an administrative/coaching specific newsletter, "The Parliament". In addition, the Strength & Conditioning staff have created a one-page document entitled "Owl Strength Newsletter" to educate student-athletes and coaches on helpful ways to improve on the field/pitch/court/ in the pool! Please note that these educational newsletters and documents will continue to be housed under the "Newsletter" tab on the left. Any questions, suggestions or thoughts about any of these publications, please direct them to Megan Coyne.

Update: 9/2/2011

Newsletter Tab Created: A new section was created for our ever-growing student-athlete compliance newsletter, "Owl Eyes". Previous newsletters that were published in the past are now housed in this section. This also includes the newly created administrative and coaching staff compliance newsletter, "The Parliament". I hope that each of you utilize these for not only yourself, but for your student-athletes as an educational document.

Countable Athletically Related Activities Form (AKA: Practice Hours): Please remember that CARA forms must be submitted to the Compliance Office on a weekly basis. These forms may be found under "Playing Season". Forms should have not just the amount of time, but the actual times that were utilized (i.e. 2:00-4:00pm). If you have any questions about the proper submission of these forms, please direct them to the Compliance Office. We appreciate your persistence in completing these forms in a timely manner.

Update: 6/17/2011

Updated Compliance Paperwork: Due to updated legislation and the fast-approaching 2011-12 academic year, all compliance documents housed in this site have been updated. Those submitting any old compliance documents will not be accepted after July 1, 2011. This is in order to keep forms and requests as current as possible. The compliance staff thanks you in advance for your cooperation in this transition. Please inform all coaching staff and administrative members associated with your squad.

Preliminary Transfer Assessment Forms: Please remember that Preliminary Transfer Assessment (PTA) forms must have all previous institutions' (2-year and 4-year) transcripts attached. This includes the current semester that the prospective student-athlete is registered for ("In Progress" [IP] credits). Due to limited staffing, PTA forms will take at least two (2) weeks to complete, once the PTA form has been approved by compliance . If there are any questions, please contact Megan Coyne.

Update: 4/21/2011

Eligibility Center Updates: This is a reminder that the Compliance Office will be distributing electronic copies of your incoming 2011-2012 student-athletes and their status in the Eligibility Center (EC). While the "Final High School Transcript/Proof of Graduation" will have to wait until they have graduated between May and June, the other documentation that is required (Final Amateurism Certification, All High School Transcripts, Test Scores) may be submitted at this point. If the student-athlete has a fee issue or has incomplete information that the EC is requesting, please be sure that they rectify this situation immediately. Questions regarding the required documentation may be addressed to Megan Coyne.

Student-Athlete Compliance Newsletter: The April edition of "Owl Eyes: The Student-Athlete Compliance Newsletter" has been distributed. The Compliance Office has distributed this document to all head coaches. If you or your staff have any suggestions on articles, topics or even fun facts that you believe student-athletes would find interesting, please contact the Compliance Office. We would greatly appreciate your comments, feedback and suggestions on how to improve this publication.

As always, please remember the compliance cliche: "ASK BEFORE YOU ACT!!" We wish you a successful summer and please contact us at any time.

Update: 4/29/2010

Preliminary Transfer Assessment Forms: PTA forms are to be submitted to the Compliance Office as soon as possible. It is required that a transcript, or multiple transcripts if the transfer has attended more than one institution, be submitted with the PTA form. Once a completed PTA form has been returned, please be sure to talk to the transfer yourself. Do not direct the transfer to the Academic Office. You are encouraged to discuss the assessment of the PTA form with your assigned counselor, however it is still your responsibility to explain the results of the potential transfer with the student-athlete.

For further questions or inquiries, please contact Megan Coyne.

This site hosts all new compliance forms and documents that are completed throughout the year. We hope you will find this page more user friendly and a way to save you time and money!

Located on the left is the sidebar where all documents and forms will be housed. All forms are now typeable PDFs and can be sent electronically. Those documents that need a signature will still be required. We understand this was one of the biggest suggestions for our online documents and we hope this will accommodate your staff's needs.

The home page will serve to update you on any new processes or forms. If you have any suggestions for improvement, we will gladly take them under consideration. Please contact us at any time.

We hope that you will find this new internal page useful and that each of you will utilize this to the fullest. Thank you for your assistance in the creation of this page and have a wonderful day!

Sincerely,

The Compliance Office
