Jana S. Tift holds an MFA in theatre from FSU, and also studied acting at the National Theatre of Great Britain. She has directed over thirty productions in professional and academic settings across the U.S., including FAU, the Peterborough Players in Peterborough, NH, the Boar’s Head in Lansing, MI, Lost Nation Theatre in Montpelier, VT, and City Theatre in Miami. She has been awarded Best Director awards at the American College Theatre Festival in Louisiana, the Thespie awards in Michigan and the New Hampshire Theatre Awards. She has been a Hendrix-Murphy Foundation Artist-in-Residence at Hendrix College. In addition to directing, Jana is an actress, a singer, and a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique. Most recent roles include M'Lynn in Steel Magnolias at the Broward Stage Door and Shelby in Women Drivers at the Women's Theatre Project. She has conducted Alexander Technique workshops across the Eastern United States and abroad, including Lawrence University, the International University Theatre Association, New World School of the Arts, the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts — Young Arts program, the Southeastern Theatre Conference,and the Alexander W. Dreyfoos High School of the Arts. Ms. Tift is a devoted choral singer, and has had the great good fortune to sing "backup" for Josh Groban with the Jubilate chorus, and for Andrea Bocelli with the Master Chorale of South Florida. She is a member of the Society of Directors and Choreographers.
