Department of Sociology
Undergraduate Student Paper Competition
Fall 2018 – Spring 2019

As part of our Writing Enriched Curriculum (WEC) initiative the Sociology Department will award a $300 prize to the student who produces the best sociology paper during academic year Fall 2018-Spring 2019. A $100 award will go to the first runner-up.

To be eligible to participate in the competition papers must meet the following criteria:
1. Have been written for a sociology course taught during the Fall 2018 or Spring 2019 semester.
2. Be a research paper or proposal (e.g., theoretical, methodological, and/or substantive). NOTE, short “reflection” papers do not qualify.
3. Be at least 8 pages in length, not including title page, reference pages, etc…
4. Be recommended for the award by the faculty for whom it was produced.
5. Be submitted, along with a note of support from faculty, to Dr. M. Harvey at mharve16@fau.edu by April 12, 2019.

Students need not be sociology majors to participate. Rather anyone enrolled in a sociology course is eligible.

Winners will be recognized at the end of the year department party.

Please address any questions to Mark Harvey at mharve16@fau.edu.
