Dr. Winn comes to FAU from Wayne State University in Detroit where she worked as an Assistant Professor. She has a doctorate in Interpersonal Communication from the University of Georgia-Athens, a Masters of Social Work from FAU, and a Bachelors of Psychology and Master of Child and Family Development from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has extensive experience in conducting research within lower income communities and as a graduate student, she was selected to run a project funded by Head Start. In 2004, she was selected to participate in a forum on Women and Leadership at the Oxford University. She has worked at FAU since 2009 and her teaching interests include communication theory and methodology, gender, culture, and interpersonal communication. Her research interests center on interpersonal communication, with an additional concern for gender, social support, and civic engagement within public forums.
