Latin Grammy-Nominated Tango Ensemble, Quinteto Leopoldo Federico, Returns to FAU

The Latin-Grammy nominated Quinteto Leopoldo Federico (Colombia), best known for their unique blend of contemporary tango with Colombian folk rhythms, will be at Florida Atlantic University  on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in the University Theatre, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. The internationally-renown dance duo Gina Medina Bernal and Ivan Ovalle will accompany the ensemble, bringing out the visual intensity and romantic qualities of this art form.

Quinteto Leopoldo Federico's debut album "Bogotá - Buenos Aires," which was produced at FAU's Hoot/Wisdom Recordings under the direction of FAU associate professor Alejandro-Sánchez Samper, received a Latin-Grammy nomination in the "Best Tango Album" category for the 16th annual Latin-Grammy Awards® in 2015. The album, which features modern arrangements of tango and compositions from many well renowned Colombian and Argentine musicians, has received high praise from the press and from music connoisseurs alike. Internationally famous radio personality Julio Sánchez-Cristo from "La W" radio had this to say about the album during the morning show broadcast on Nov. 24, 2015: "Bogotá-Buenos Aires is a beautiful album; an exciting and emotional representation of tango, guabina, bambuco and pasillo. Albums such as this one are worth promoting."

Tickets for the upcoming concert are $20 and can be purchased online at www.fauevents.com or by calling 800-564-9539. Admission for FAU students, faculty and staff is free at the box office with a valid ID.
