Steve Martin's 'Picasso at the Lapin Agile'

The Department of Theatre and Dance presents "Picasso at the Lapin Agile," an absurdist comedy written by Steve Martin.  The play places Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in a Parisian cafe in 1904, just before the renowned scientist transformed physics with his theory of relativity and the celebrated painter set the art world afire with cubism. The play runs from Friday, Nov. 14 through Sunday, Nov. 23 in the Studio One Theatre, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.

"Steve Martin has always been one of my favorite comedians - all the way back to his white-suit-wearing, banjo-playing, wild-and-crazy-guy days," said Kathryn Johnston, Ph.D., director of the play and assistant professor at FAU.  "He also shows how smart he is in 'Picasso at the Lapin Agile' by balancing the heady material of Einstein and Picasso with the slap stick and off- the-cuff humor for which he is famous."

Shows are on Fridays at 7 p.m.; Saturdays at 2 and 7 p.m.; and Sundays at 2 p.m. General admission tickets are $20; students, faculty, staff, alumni and children under age 12 may purchase tickets for $12; and group prices are available. Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-800-564-9539 or at www.fauevents.com
