‘Great Decisions’ Lecture Series

Florida Atlantic University’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters will host a new series titled “Great Decisions,” which is modeled after the “Great Decisions” series.  All lectures will be presented by Jeffrey Morton, Ph.D., foreign policy association fellow and FAU professor of political science, and will take place in the University Theatre, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The dates of each lecture are Jan. 12, 19, and 26, 2016; Feb. 2, 16, and 23, 2016; and March 8 and 15, 2016. The cost for the entire series is $85, which includes parking. Tickets can be purchased by calling 561-297-2471 or at www.fauevents.com.

Since 1918, the Foreign Policy Association (FPA) has promoted an open, objective and non-partisan assessment of world affairs and U.S. foreign policy.  Annually, the FPA selects eight foreign policy challenges, or “great decisions,” confronting the United States. Similarly, in this lecture series, Morton will analyze eight foreign policy challenges confronting U.S. policy makers and the American public. Great Decisions 2016 topics include the Koreas; the Islamic State; the Middle East; Cuba; the Kurds; United Nations reform; migration; and climate change. For each “great decision,” Morton will provide background information, review U.S. strategic interests and outline American foreign policy options.

The Great Decisions 2016 Handbook, which includes a mini-chapter on each of the eight foreign policy topics, is optional reading for subscribers to this lecture series. To order the handbook, visit www.fpa.org. For more information, call 561-297-2595.
