Symposium Looks at 'Jewish Origins: New Insights and Scholarship'
by FAU College of Arts and Letters | Tuesday, Jan 21, 2014FAU's Gimelstob Symposium in Judaic Studies presents the symposium "Jewish Origins: New Insights and Scholarship" on Sunday, Feb. 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Monday, Feb. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Live Oak Pavilion, FAU's Student Union, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. Scholars and academics from around the world will look at the history of Judaism.
Sunday's program will include sessions on "Were the Ancient Jews a Nation?," The Synagogue in Antiquity," Jewish Daily Life," "Inventing Rabbis," "What Can We Say About the Origins of Rabbinic Liturgy?" and "The Dead Sea Scrolls for Today." Monday's sessions include "Diaspora and the 'Assimilated' Jew" and "When Christianity was Judaism."
