The University Galleries will present “Common Ground,” the Fall 2016 Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Exhibition from Thursday, Dec. 1 through Friday, Dec. 16 in the Ritter Art Gallery, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. The opening reception will take place on Thursday, Dec. 1 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Both the reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.
“Common Ground” is an exhibition featuring the works of emerging artists and designers who will be graduating in December from FAU’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program within the Department of Visual Arts and Art History. The program is selective and is geared toward students who plan to pursue a professional career in art or design as well as prepare them for specialized graduate study.
This exhibition will feature a variety of works in two-dimensional and three-dimensional formats, including painting, printmaking, sculpture and graphic design. The event celebrates the culmination of undergraduate studies in a program that is ultimately geared toward fostering individual growth, visual analysis and research through the study of technique, history and critical dialogue in the studio setting.
Participating graduating artists include Adam Spear, Bonnie Higgen, Catherine Moore, Chinelo Marius, Claudia Morrison, Edgar Olivos, Lawrence Chappe, Sebastian Bruno-Harris, Scarlett Garcia, Samrin Parvin, Utku Tanner, Yarden Negri and Will Landis. Images of artwork by the exhibitors can be found at www.commongroundbfa.com.
The University Galleries are open Tuesday through Friday, 1 to 4 p.m., and Saturdays, 1 to 5 p.m. Class and group tours are welcome during public hours or at alternative times by appointment. For more information, call 561-297-2966 or visit www.fau.edu/galleries.
