FAU’s Evening All About Women a Great Success

The Advisory Council of Florida Atlantic University’s Center for Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters recently hosted a “An Evening All About Women” featuring guest star Sharon Gless. The evening included a play reading of Nora and Delia Ephron’s “Love, Loss and What I Wore,” a dinner reception and silent auction. Special guest stars in the play included Lalita Janke, Jan Savarick, Mary Wong and FAU Professors Kathryn Johnston and Lynn McNutt. The dinner reception for the event was generously underwritten by Edith Stein.

More than $30,000 was raised during the event which will go towards scholarships for master students in the Center for Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. The Center prepares students to think critically about the ways that gender interacts with politics, culture, ideologies, social structures and economics.

FAU’s Advisory Council for the Center for Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies, which is chaired by Skeets Friedkin and Lisa Armbrust, was founded to create community awareness about the Center’s master’s program, support student scholarships in the Center and to host events that raise awareness around women and gender issues. The council is always open to new interested board members. For more information on the Advisory Council, call 561-297-3865.
