MHMonica Hidalgo, mezzo-soprano, is currently an adjunct professor of voice at Florida Atlantic University and music director of traditional services at First United Methodist Church of Coral Springs. She has been an Artist in Residence with the Delray Beach Chorale fulfilling the role of section leader, soloist, and voice instructor within the Chorale’s Apprentice Program since 2009 while serving as Operations Manager of the Palm Beach Symphony for five consecutive seasons (2009-2014).  Most recently she serves as assistant conductor of the Delray Beach Chorale.  In 2008 she received the first place award in the Michael and Madelyn Savarick Competition and was selected to present an honor’s voice student recital in the President’s mansion at Florida Atlantic University.  Ms. Hidalgo has performed and recorded throughout South Florida and the United States, including numerous operas with the Palm Beach Opera chorus (2009–2013).  Her concert hall repertoire includes such oratorios as Handel’s Messiah, Durufle’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Bach’s Magnificat in D, and Mozart’s Coronation Mass.

Ms. Hidalgo is an accomplished and sought after soloist with experience in studio recording and cross over styles; jazz, musical theater, opera, recital repertoire, and Latin American popular songs.  She received a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance and a Master of Arts with a concentration in choral conducting from Florida Atlantic University under the tutelage of Dr. Patricia P. Fleitas.  Ms. Hidalgo was the recipient of the Department of Music Graduate Honors Scholarship for two consecutive years. She is certified in Levels I and II of the Somatic Voicework; The LoVetri Method, and certified Level III d with the The New Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Pedagogy at Shenandoah University.  Ms. Hidalgo is an active coach, clinician, and private voice instructor.  She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and the Voice and Speech Trainers Association (VASTA).
