The Humanities
In an ever-complex world, advanced study in the humanities helps us develop sharp critical abilities that question received ideas and promote a more creative response to the pressing issues of our day. A deeper and broader knowledge of literature, language, philosophy, ideas and history gives us the tools to know ourselves better while helping inform our roles in society as citizens and members of a large, diverse human community. By promoting greater understanding and appreciation of cultural difference, and by contributing to a more informed public discourse, FAU's M.A. programs in the humanities prepare students for a variety of careers that enable them to engage purposefully in local and global arenas.
