Ritter Art Gallery | March 25th - April 9th, 2011

Jury

The 2011 Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition at Florida Atlantic University began with a call for artwork from any FAU student that resulted with close to 100 students submitting over 218 art works. Students were permitted to enter up to three works in any media. The final exhibit features 108 works by 64 artists.

The artwork was juried and selected by Beatriz Monteavaro. Monteavaro earned a BFA degree from Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Philadelphia, PA. Her work has been presented in numerous group exhibitions  including at The Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami in 2005 and 2000; Derek Eller Gallery, New York, N.Y.; AR Contemporary Gallery, Milan, Italy; Morsbergerstrasse 54, Basel, Switzerland in 2006; Emmanuel Perrotin, Paris, France. Her work has been featured and reviewed in ART PAPERS and ARTnews, among others. She recently received the 2011 South Florida Cultural Consortium Visual Artist Fellowship. Monteavaro’s work was recently in the University Galleries’ exhibit southXeast: Contemporary Southeastern Art and the associated southXeast BOXED at Whitespace, the Mordes Collection, West Palm Beach.

This exhibition is a collaboration of the Department of Visual Arts and Art History and the University Galleries and was made possible in part by FAU Student Government through student activity fees.
