Comparative Studies Program

The Comparative Studies Program, with the financial support of The Patricia M. Courtenay Doctoral Fellowship Endowment, is offering a conference travel grant.  This award ($700.00) will be made to an outstanding PhD student to support his or her travel to present a paper at a professional conference. Award must be used during the academic year, August 2017 to July 1, 2018.  

Eligibility criteria

  • By the date of application, the applicant must be a full time student with a minimum of 3.7 GPA.

Application process

The applicant must submit the following items by October 15, 2017:

  • Abstract of paper to be presented
  • Acceptance letter from conference organizers
  • letter of support from professor or advisor

Awardee will be selected by the PhD Executive Committee.

Notification and terms of the award

  • Applicants will be notified by the end of October.

If there is no applicant selected in October, a second round of applications will be solicited for a January 15 competition and spring award.
