Interim Dean Coltman

Dr. Heather  Coltman

Heather Coltman, DMA, is serving as the Interim Dean of the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. She was previously the Chair of the Department of Music, where she was also a Professor of Music and Director of Keyboard Studies. In 1998, Coltman received the FAU Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. Before coming to FAU, Coltman served on the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the Austin Chamber Music Center and the Birmingham-Southern Conservatory.
Coltman holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Texas, a Master of Music degree from the Mannes College of Music in New York and a Bachelor of Music degree from the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. Owl Observer/Music of the Heart: The Heather Coltman Story


Interim Associate Dean Johnson

Linda Johnson Linda Johnson, Professor of Visual Arts and Art History, is serving as Interim Associate Dean of the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters.  She was previously the Chair of the Department of Visual Arts and Art History.
Before she joined FAU in 1997, she was Assistant Professor of Visual and
Performing Arts at Purdue University and before that an Adjunct Professor of Communications Arts and Design at Virginia Commonwealth University. She received her B.F.A. from the University of Houston and M.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University. An interest in handmade papers, unique book structures, letterpress printing, and story-telling has fueled her imagination and provided content for bookworks for over a decade. She has received several awards including the National Museum for Women in the Arts: Book Artist Fellowship and the Florida Artists' Book Prize. Her work is widely exhibited and resides in public and private collections including Tate Britain, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Harvard, Yale, UCLA, Sackner Archives of Concrete and Visual Poetry and many others.
