A registered chief-architect in Hungary (with validity in the E.U. Countries), Dr. Peter Magyar is the Founding Director and Professor in the Florida Atlantic University School of Architecture. Previously, he was the Head of the Department of Architecture and later the Research Institute of Spatial Culture at Pennsylvania State University. His professional career, on the academic side, has also included faculty positions at the Technical University of Budapest, Hungary; Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria; Auburn University (where he became Burlington Distinguished Professor in 1987); Cincinnati University; University of Monterrey, Mexico; and a guest professorship at the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is president of his consulting firm: Spaceprint, Inc., and designer of many built and unbuilt projects. Winner of several competitions (one of which is under construction in Budapest, Hungary), he is a member of the Chamber and Association of Hungarian Architects, and the Board of Directors of the Florida Association of the American Institute of Architects). His formal education bears the seal of the Faculty of Architecture, Technical University of Budapest, but only he is responsible for his past and future mistakes. In 1999, he received the "Teacher of the Year" award from the College of Architecture, Urban, & Public Affairs. His latest book, Thought Palaces, was published by "Architectura and Natura," Amsterdam, in 1999.
