As a cultural anthropologist with an interest in visual anthropology, I observe how people represent and communicate their world views. Our lives are also shaped and influenced by the visual culture that surrounds us through which we learn to see ourselves and each other. My research interests focus on these relationships as well as visual methodologies, collaboration, public anthropology, human rights, and applied projects outside of academia.
My affiliations include membership in the American Association of Anthropologists, the Society for Visual Anthropologists, Royal Anthropological Institute of the British Museum.
My new book, Images and Human Rights, offers a multi-disciplinary essay on the role of the visual and human rights:
