Admitted Students - Freshman

Now that you are a part of the FAU family, take time to review the following list of requirements for new students. There are a few tasks you must complete in order to finalize the acceptance process before you can register for classes. You may want to print the following checklist.

checkbox Acceptance Letter

Please check the information in your acceptance letter for accuracy and contact us immediately if changes are necessary. Acceptance is only for the term specified. If your plans change, or if you wish to be reconsidered for another term, send us written notification. Pay particular attention to your name, address, term of entrance and residency status.

checkboxAdmission

Your acceptance to FAU is based on your academic information at the time your file is reviewed by the Office of Admissions. If your admissions decision says Accepted then your admissions file is complete.  If your admissions' decision says Accepted:final docs needed, this indicates that final transcripts or degree information may be needed to finalize your admissions file.  It is in your best interest to submit final transcripts to the Office of Admissions before you register for classes at FAU in order to avoid any registration holds on your record.

Your admission to FAU is specified for a certain semester and you must enroll during that term. If you wish to change your entry term, simply make your request by email to admissions@fau.edu or by submitting the Change your Entry Date form. While your admission is for a specific term, your application and fee are good for one academic year (3 consecutive semesters). Your request for a change of entry term must be received by the stated application deadlines.

If you would like to make any changes regarding your admission, please submit the corresponding form from the list below:

checkbox Residency

In the bottom left hand corner of your acceptance letter it states your classification as a Florida resident or a non-Florida resident. If you would like to have your status reconsidered, you will need to submit a Residency classification form. This sheet, along with full documentation, must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the start of classes.

checkbox Tuition Deposit

All admitted freshmen must confirm their intention to enroll and secure their place with the freshman class by submitting the required $200.00 admissions tuition deposit. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable and will be applied to your tuition and other expenses for the original term in which you have been admitted to FAU. It will be forfeited if you pay the deposit and choose not to enroll at FAU for that term, or if you submit a change of entry request for a different term

Please Note: The tuition deposit is separate from the residence hall prepayment required by the Department of Housing and Residential Life.

The deadline to submit your deposit and confirm your enrollment with the freshman class is May 1 for the Summer and Fall terms; and December 1 for the Spring term. If you are offered admission after the deadline date, your deposit must be paid within two weeks of the date of your acceptance letter. The tuition deposit must be paid prior to your registration for Student Orientation and may affect the date in which you are able to attend orientation and register for classes.

All admitted freshmen students are required to submit the tuition deposit with the exception of applicants who received an SAT or ACT fee waiver. If you demonstrate financial need, you may make arrangements with the Office of Admissions to waive or reduce the tuition deposit.

Online payment via credit card may be submitted and is the preferred method of payment. If you do not wish to pay online, please fill out the bottom portion of the Admissions Tuition Deposit form and send with your check or money order payable to Florida Atlantic University, mail to:
