TRANSFER INTERNATIONAL ADMISSIONS

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

1. Submit the completed FAU Application form with the required $30.00 application fee. To apply, please go to the web site on our admissions main page:  www.fau.edu/admissions/Apply_Online.php and select the application method. The application fee can be paid online during the process. You may also pay online at a later time by selecting the "pay now" button here:  https://fauapps.fau.edu/uapp/AdmAppFee.htm. Online payment can be made only by a credit card. Students can also mail in a check, money order, postal money order, international money order and U.S traveler's check (all must be drawn in a U.S. bank). Please mail your payment to:

   Transfer students requirements differ according to the number of credits completed in regionally accredited post secondary institutions.
   
   
   1. Lower-Division Transfers with fewer than 60 transferable credits should meet the same admission criteria as freshman (see: freshman international admissions requirements ), including High School grade point average, SAT or ACT scores, TOEFL scores and, in addition, minimum 2.5 grade point average in all college or university course work.
      
      
   2. Upper-Division Transfers with more than 60 transferable credits should have achieved cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on all college or university courses and TOEFL scores. (We require separate original transcript from each institution) You may also submit your secondary school records only if you need to provide proof of completion of the foreign language requirement.
      
      
   3. Upper-Division Transfers with the Associate of Arts Degree from a FL Community College will be admitted with priority over applicants who are not AA degree graduates from Florida Public Community College; however they must follow the international guidelines and deadlines in order to be admitted.
      
      
2. If you completed all or part of your education abroad, a translation and evaluation of work completed at each institution will be necessary. Transcripts should be sent to one of the NACES accredited evaluation services for course-by-course evaluation and overall GPA. Please see a list of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) Members.
   
   
3. Results of the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) may be required of students whose first language is not English. Current FAU admission requirements are a score of 550 on the paper-based test (Toefl PBT), or 80 on the internet-based version (Toefl IBT). Also, we accept IELTS instead of Toefl with the minimum score of 6.5. Information about IELTS can be obtained from http://www.ielts.org FAU now offers TOEFL in the Boca Raton campus. You can find more information about it on our web site at www.fau.edu/testing/TOEFL.php.
   
   Students are exempt from taking the TOEFL exam only if they meet the following criteria:
   
   
   • Students who have attended at least three years of an accredited high school where the primary language of instruction is English.
     
     
   • Students who have at least 60 credit hours from an accredited post secondary institution where the primary language of instruction is English.
     
     
4. In addition to your application for FAU, you must submit some or all of the supporting documents to be issued an I-20 , a document which enables you to study as an International, F1 visa student at FAU. The required documents are:
   
   As a first time international student in the United States you must submit a detailed Financial Certification Form (FCF) and
   
   
   • a detailed Financial Certification Form (FCF) and
     
     
   • a bank letter written in English including U.S. dollar amounts, and issued within 6 months from creating I-20. Bank letter has to present specific sources of financial support and the exact amounts required to study at FAU for the first year.
     
     Recommended deadlines for submission of required documents for issuance of the I-20 are:
     
     Fall: May 1
     Summer: April 1
     Spring: November 1
     
     
   As a continuing international student attending a U.S school and currently under an F1  visa you must submit the following:
   
   
   • a detailed Financial Certification Form (FCF) and
     
     
   • a bank letter written in English including U.S. dollar amounts, and issued within 6 months from creating I-20. Bank letter has to present specific sources of financial support and the exact amounts required to study at FAU for the first year.
     
     
   • an international Student Visa Clearance Form (VCF). This form must be completed by the International Coordinator from your previous U.S school.
