Tania,

Very well—our chairs and Dean looked this over and are okay with it. Let us know if this email will suffice as support, or if you need a special email from the Dean.

Thanks,

Mark

Subject: Study Abroad Course Credit Changes

Dear Dean Buller,

The Office of International Programs has added a number of new partners to our exchange program roster and we are seeing growth in student interest to go abroad on our exchanges. We currently have study abroad course numbers in your college at the lower and upper division level, which we use for registering FAU students when they go abroad on exchange (i.e. ART 2957, ARH 4959, HUM 4957). The study abroad courses were set up to be variable credit bearing courses from 1-3 credits or 1-4 credits. Some of our new partner schools courses offer more credits than ours and can range from 1-6 credits. To better meet the needs of our students, we are in the process of increasing the variable credits for our study abroad course numbers that are found in your college.

We are going through the approval process with the help of Professor Jerry Haky, Maria Jennings of the Registrar’s Office, and the University Undergraduate Programs Committee (UUPC). They have asked that we get an email of support so that the Committee knows we are making credit changes with the approval of the colleges. We would like to ask for your support. The following text was suggested, “The College of XXXXX approves the credit change for our study abroad courses to 1-6 credits.” Your email of support can be sent to me at trtucker@fau.edu. We are requesting that your email of support arrive by August 12, so we can submit all paperwork for the September 4 UUPC Meeting. Thank you in advance for your help in making the study abroad experience for FAU students easier. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions at 7-3227.

Sincerely,
Tania
