FAU Faculty Governance: 2007 - 2008
The University Faculty Senate The University Faculty Senate is a governance body concerned with matters of general university educational policy, including curriculum, academic calendar and schedule, admissions, registration, and degree programs. It may also consider and provide advice to the President and others on university-wide issues of general faculty concern, including university budgeting and planning and any organizational changes or policies affecting more than one campus, college, or division.

Campus Senates Each campus with a minimum of 50 faculty shall establish a Faculty Senate for purposes of campus faculty governance. The form, membership, rules, and committee structure of each Campus Senate shall be determined by the faculty members whose positions are budgeted more than 50 percent on that campus, and shall be described in the campus bylaws. Each campus Faculty Senate may discuss any issues and advise appropriate administrators on any matters affecting that campus.

College Assemblies Each college shall establish a faculty assembly for purposes of faculty governance at the college level. The assembly shall be primarily concerned with: (1) matters of college educational policy, including curriculum, admissions, and degree programs; (2) matters of general college faculty interest, including tenure, hiring policies, and promotion; (3) student affairs; and (4) administrative matters of general college interest, including college organization and the coordination of academic programs at multiple sites. The assembly shall be advisory to the Dean in matters of planning and budgeting.
