Undergraduate Financial Assistance
Laura Sylvia Myers Memorial Award
Laura Sylvia Myers was born in 1962 and died tragically in a car accident in 1984. Each year, the Women’s Studies Center presents an award to an undergraduate woman in Laura’s memory. The award, which carries a $1,000 prize, is presented at the spring Women’s Studies Graduation Ceremony. The deadline for applications is mid-April of the year you wish to be considered. The award recognizes a female student who has demonstrated:
- scholarship in the Women’s Studies Program and
- leadership in Women’s Studies and
- a proven commitment to feminist ideals
Eligibility Requirements
- The award is given to a graduating undergraduate woman
- You must have completed the requirements for graduation and the Women’s Studies Certificate from FAU
Materials to be Submitted
- A transcript along with a list of courses in which you are currently enrolled
- A two-page essay that describes your qualifications for the award
- At least two letters of recommendation from instructors in courses taken for the Women’s Studies Certificate
