MUSIC LLC
Open to all first-year students admitted to the music major through audition.
# of students accepted per year = 46
The School of the Arts and the Department of Music faculty are STRONGLY encouraging any student who is admitted to the music major through the audition process to join the Music LLC. This program will allow music students to learn together (in courses which will include Music Theory I, Sight-Singing/Ear Training I and Gateway to Music Perception) and practice together while exploring their love for music and performance—both inside and outside the classroom.
What courses do I take in the Music LLC?
FALL semester:
English Composition I (3 credits)
Learning Strategies & Human Development (1 credit)
Music Theory I (3 credits)
Sight Singing-Ear Training I (1 credit)
Gateway to Music Perception (3 credits)
Appropriate “major” Course (1-4 credits)*
SPRING semester:
Appropriate “major” Courses (12-16 credits)**
*Band, ensemble, orchestra, individual lessons.
**Based on the recommendations of the students’ academic advisor.

What are the benefits of joining the Music LLC?
• Share Your Creativity! Live with other music majors - have people to study with and practice with right “on your doorstep” or even in your own room
• Get Connected! Your SLS class will be reserved only for music majors and will have an added emphasis on music and the art of listening, as well as focus on the skills that music majors need to be successful in college
• Have an All Access Pass! To practice space, advising and other support services available to help you succeed—right in the residence hall
• Be Involved! Have special programs designed just for music majors
