GLOBAL CONNECTIONS LLC
Open to all first-year students with an interest in immersing themselves in culture and a language other than English.

Enhance your appreciation of the wide range of cultures in your new school and the world; learn to communicate effectively with people of different ethnic, cultural and linguistic identities; explore language — in and out of the classroom — through film, literature and immersion in a multilingual academic environment.
This community is not just for language majors, but is a great place to begin your studies if you are thinking of majoring or minoring in a second language.
What courses do I take in the Global Connections LLC?
FALL semester:
English Composition I (3 credits)
Learning Strategies & Human Development (1 credit)
Foreign Language I (3 credits)*
1 Appreciation “core curriculum” Course (3 credits)
Appropriate “core curriculum” courses (3 credits) **
SPRING semester:
English Composition II (3 credits)
Foreign Language II (3 credits)*
European Culture or Introduction to Carribean & Latin Studies (3 credits)
Appropriate “core curriculum” courses (3-6 credits) **
*Based on the students language preference and level of fluency.
**Based on the recommendations of the students’ academic advisor.

You will be matched with a roommate (if possible) that shares an interest in the same language—and you will participate in weekly “language lunches” and “conversation hours” to provide a true opportunity to practice the language. Special programs (international film nights and faculty dinners) will help immerse you in a multilingual and multicultural academic environment.
