How to complete OARS, the FAU online advising and registration system, AFTER you have been accepted into a Learning Community...
Prior to your orientation, you will receive information from Freshman Academic Advising regarding the OARS early registration process. After receiving this e-mail, you need to go online to the Learning Community webpage and print out your individual FLC or LLC schedule (http://wise.fau.edu/LearningCommunity/2008FLC/courseschedules.php).
Next, you must complete OARS online advising (http://oars.fau.edu/). At the beginning of OARS you will be asked to indicate if you are applying for an FLC or LLC (be sure to check the correct one). This will allow our office to help you in your registration process. One of the benefits of signing up for a Learning Community is that the Center for Learning And Student Success registers you for your classes. You DO NOT register yourself for classes, you will just need to complete OARS.
Please review the courses listed on your printed FLC or LLC schedule before starting OARS. You will use this as your guide when picking out your classes on the OARS system. Please only check off the classes that appear on your specific LC schedule. If you do not, this might delay the approval of your classes. These courses will need to be submitted in your OARS information. If you are coming in with college credit, you may request a substitution – otherwise, if you do not have college credit and you select different classes from your FLC or LLC schedule, we will put you in the courses as indicated on your learning community schedule.
Once you submit OARS, someone in the CLASS Office will review your selections and approve your classes prior to your FAU Orientation date. As long as all of your holds are cleared, CLASS will then register you for those classes. The classes you chose on you Learning Community application will supersede the classes you selected on OARS if there is a discrepancy. You will be able to pick up your finished scheduled on your orientation date at the Learning Community Session on the second day at 1pm in the Live Oak Pavilion.
