As Florida Atlantic University celebrates its 40th anniversary year, we honor all of these founders, and we thank them for the faith they placed in a brand new institution of higher learning. From that starting point, FAU has grown into a major presence in South Florida. Today, the University is serving more than 26,000 students on seven strategically located campuses in its very large service area and generating more than $1 billion in regional economic activity.
Among the University’s most exciting current initiatives are the Fall 2004 launch of our medical education partnership with the University of Miami School of Medicine, the construction of a $16.5 million, state-of-the-art headquarters facility for the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing on the Boca Raton campus, and the move to Division IA of the NCAA by FAU’s three-year-old football team, the Fighting Owls
This University continues to go forward, building upon the solid foundation that was laid down by its founders and broadened over the course of four decades by thousands of dedicated faculty and staff members and community supporters. The years ahead promise to be truly exciting as FAU achieves even higher levels of accomplishment in the academic, research and public service arenas. The legacy of the dreamers lives on in the new dreams that are shaping FAU’s future.
